अभिषेक मनु सिंघवी की ताज़ा सीडी के बहाने इस समाज को कौतुहल और चुहलबाज़ियों के लिए एक और ताज़ा शिकार मिल गया है. रति को निजी क्षणों में पुनरावृत्ति कर करके देखने वाला समाज इसे शाम की चाट और सुबह की चाय की तरह मनोरंजक पाता है. जजों की नियुक्ति का सवाल कोई नहीं उठाना चाहता जबकि वो इस पूरे प्रकरण का सबसे गंभीर पहलू है. अभिषेक मनु सिंघवी का खेल इस पूरे भ्रष्ट तंत्र की एक बानगी भर ही तो है. ऐसा किस महकमे में नहीं हो रहा और कितने लोग नहीं कर रहे. नियुक्तियों से लेकर पदोन्नति तक ऐसी अंतहीन कथाएं हैं. पर कभी कोई अखबार या मीडिया या सोशल नेटवर्क (जिन्होंने इसे लाइव दिखाकर गौरव हासिल किया है) इसपर सवाल नहीं उठाता और न ही इसकी मुहिम छेड़ता नज़र आता है कि कैसे महिलाओं, पिछड़ों और अन्य पात्रों के लिए, जो कि सुयोग्य हैं, जिनके पास गुणवत्ता है, उनका रास्ता आसान, पारदर्शी और शोषण से मुक्त बनाया जाए.
अभिषेक मनु सिंघवी के मामले में इस बात की पुरज़ोर निंदा की जानी चाहिए कि किस तरह से जजों की नियुक्ति के मसले में कीचड़ फैला हुआ है और सब उसी में सराबोर गंदगी फैला रहे हैं. लेकिन चटकारे लेकर सेक्स टेप पर खिल्लियां उड़ाते लोगों के साथ मैं तबतक शोषण, नारीवाद और उम्र, स्थान, संबंध जैसे शब्दों पर चर्चा नहीं करूंगा जबतक कि अभिषेक मनु सिंघवी के साथ प्रयासरत (मैं आपत्तिजनक नहीं कहूंगा) महिला खुद इसे स्वीकार नहीं करती कि उसके साथ जो हुआ, उसके लिए वह विवश थी, या उसे बाध्य किया गया और उसका शोषण किया गया. क्योंकि जिस तरह से किसी योग्य पात्र को योग्यता के बावजूद ऐसा करने के लिए बाध्य किया जा सकता है वैसे ही अयोग्य पात्र अपने को योग्य पद तक पहुंचाने के लिए ऐसे रास्तों का सहारा ले सकता है. और जब अयोग्य कुछ पाने के लिए कुछ भी करने को तैयार हो तो उसका न तो पक्ष लिया जा सकता है और न ही उसके शोषण को शोषण कहा जा सकता है क्योंकि शरीर संसर्ग को केवल शोषण की तरह ही नहीं देखता है और हर संसर्ग शोषण ही नहीं होता है.
हम उस समाज में जी रहे हैं जहाँ बच्चों ने बड़े होने के क्रम में शायद प्रेमचंद से ज़्यादा मस्तराम को पढ़ा है. सविता भाभी और अंतरवासना से जिन्हें लगाव है. जो अभी भी मौका मिलते पर गुगल के ज़रिए या तो खजुराहो खोजते हैं या खुली देहों वाली साइटें. सनी लियोन जहाँ सबकी कल्पनाओं में रतिरत दासी तो है पर ज़बान पर केवल एक गाली. सेक्स केवल प्राकृतिक स्वभाव का विषय नहीं रह गया है, इससे आगे निकलकर हमारे हास-विनोद का विषय भी बन गया है क्योंकि हम कुंठाओं की गठरी को सिर पर रखकर और नैतिकता की गंगाजली हाथ में उठाकर चलते हैं पर लंगोट से कमज़ोर हैं और शरीर को प्रायः भोजपत्र की तरह देखते आए हैं.
इसे ऐसे देखिए कि एक जोड़ा टांगों को ढकने के लिए हम कुछ भी पहनें, नीचे तो नंगे ही हैं. इस प्राकृतिक सी चीज़ पर हम कैसे रिएक्ट करते हैं जब किसी की धोती, पतलून या साड़ी खोल दी जाती है. हम हंसते हैं. नज़र चुराकर तो कभी उचक-उचककर देखते हैं. हफ्तों उसकी चर्चा करते हैं और वर्षों उसे स्मृतियों में संभालकर रखते हैं. केवल मसालों पर ही बात होती है, मसालों पर ही कवरेज, मसालों पर ही बहस. क्योंकि एक स्वाभाविक सी चीज़ को मसाला बनाकर दिखाना हमारा स्वभाव बन चुका है. चाहे हो रात को समाचार चैनलों पर प्रसारित होने वाले प्रश्नोत्तर कार्यक्रम हों, चाहे वो हर वर्ष बड़े मीडिया प्रतिष्ठानों द्वारा छापे जाते सेक्स विशेषांक हों, चाहे वो खबरों के चयन के वक्त और फोटो को छांटते काटते वक्त हमारी संपादकीय सोच हो, चाहे वो कोई स्टिंग ऑपरेशन हो या फिर मॉरल पुलिसिंग.
मेरे इस लेखन पर कई लोग अचानक से नैतिक हो चलेंगे और वैसे ही गाली बकना शुरू करेंगे जैसे कि सिगमंड फ्रायड और मंटो से लेकर मकबूल फिदा हुसैन तक सबको बकते आए हैं. दरअसल नैतिकता के तराजू का डंडा थामे हुए ये वे लोग हैं जो कृष्ण तो बनना चाहते हैं, पर अपनी बेटी, पत्नी और मां को न तो रुक्मणी स्वीकार करना चाहते हैं, न राधा और न मीरा.
आश्चर्य इसलिए भी ज़्यादा है क्योंकि हम इस मामले में पश्चिम से ज़्यादा खुली सोच और व्यवहार वाले रहे हैं. बिल क्लिंटन, सार्कोज़ी, टाइगर वुड्स और सिल्वियो बर्लिस्कोनी के जो हश्र हुए हैं वो हमारे यहाँ न तो एनटी रामाराव के लिए हुआ, न करुणानिधि का, न एनडी तिवारी का. महात्मा गांधी से लेकर जवाहरलाल नेहरू तक को ऐसे सवालों ने घेरा पर इससे इनकी सामाजिक राजनीतिक स्थितियों पर बहुत फर्क नहीं पड़ा. कुछ दशकों पहले तक बहुपत्नी प्रथा हमारे यहां रही ही है. यहाँ ऐसा कहने का आशय यह कतई नहीं है कि ये लोग प्रगतिशील सोच और समझ वाले थे लेकिन कम से कम समाज उनकी ऐसी स्थितियों की वजह से खौलता-जलता नज़र नहीं आया. सिंघवी का प्रकरण न्यायालयों में व्याप्त भ्रष्टाचार की अनंत गहराइयों तक जा रही जड़ों का एक उदाहरण भर है. खतरा और चुनौती इससे भी कहीं आगे है. और फिर केवल न्यायालय क्यों, ऐसा लगभग हर क्षेत्र में हो रहा है. इसे रोकिए अगर सिंघवी की अनैतिकता से इतनी ही घिन आती है तो.
