How would you describe your transition from television to cinema?
The best journey of my life. It has been enriching and a dream come true because I always dreamt of being in the movies. A lot of hard work, a lot of rejections, a lot of trauma, a lot of learning, a lot of growth, a lot of failures, a lot of setbacks, a lot of determination—I wouldn’t have wanted it in any other way.
A sentence to describe the following:
Sushant Singh Rajput
A raw source of energy that is contagious to the people around him.
Rajkumar Yadav
Completely effortless and raises the bar each time.
Abhishek Kapoor
A brave heart and completely free spirited, be it as a person or as a director.
Neena Gupta (who launched him in his first television serial Kyu Hota Hai Pyarrrr)
My first Angel who brought me a step closer to my dreams.
Big Boss
A mistake I don’t regret. Taught me a lot, made me a better person, and showed me the real side of a reality show.
The books currently on your shelf?
I just finished reading Christian Bale’s autobiography and started reading Johnny Depp’s today. I’m also reading an NLP book, a linguistic programming book called A New Technology of Achievement.
The album currently ruling your play list
No album, but a song on the loop would be ‘Manjha’ from my film Kai Po Che. “Suljha lenge uljhe rishton ka maanjha” –love those lines.
A dream role for Amit would be?
There are no particular dream roles for me, I consider all roles as my dream roles. I want to play a prisoner, I want to play a playboy, I want to play a loser, I want to play a superhero, I want to play a psycho, I want to play a lover, I want to play the boy next door- everything.
What has been the best compliment you have received?
I had a lot of filmmakers and a lot of friends who had seen me perform. I don’t want to take names but yes a very big filmmaker said that “Your eyes do a lot of talking” and that made my day.
A question that you would want to be asked.
I’m ready to answer all questions, I’m a fearless man. There is nothing that you can’t throw at Amit Sadh and he can’t deal with it (laughs).
Your take on the following:
Item Numbers
I don’t mind being the Item! (laughs).
Book to reel adaptations
If you think it makes a good movie, don’t worry about anything else.
Your future projects?
It’s a Disney and UTV collaboration project who are doing a solo hero film with me, where I play the character of a don.
